Cornell DC Plexi 18/20 Head -Serial number 1001

In A1 condition - with padded cover.

The Cornell Plexi 18/20 Head is a premium, UK hand-wired, all-valve guitar amplifier designed by Denis Cornell to replicate legendary 1960s Marshall Plexi tones. Based loosely on the vintage Marshall PA20 circuit, this boutique head stands out for its high-quality tag-board construction and smart power-scaling features.

Key Specifications & Features

•Dual Output & Rectification: The amp gets its name from its switchable rectifier. Switching to valve rectification (GZ34 tube) delivers a saggy, vintage 18-watt output, while switching to solid-state (semiconductor) rectification provides a punchier, tighter 20-watt output with more headroom.

•Power Reduction: It features a built-in power reducer that drops the main output down to 5 watts for cranked, saturated Plexi tones at bedroom-friendly volume levels.

•Two Channels: Features independent 'Normal' and 'Bright' channels, each equipped with its own Volume and Tone controls and High/Low inputs.

•The "Cornell Cream-Box": Denis Cornell designed a proprietary encapsulated component circuit to balance the Class A push-pull output. This eliminates unequal current flow and harsh crossover distortion, resulting in a remarkably smooth overdrive when pushed hard.

•Valve Complement: Powered by 2 x ECC83 preamp tubes, 2 x EL84 power tubes, and 1 x GZ34 rectifier tube.

•Aesthetics: Housed in a sturdy pine and plywood shell, it is traditionally finished in a classic green Tolex with an Art Deco "Cornell" logo.
