With the KA-ASOV-C concert ukulele, the sound is really very good - and very loud - the perfect uke for drowing out your fellow players at your ukulele club (though you'll never be able to drown out that banjolele player!). However, while sound is key - it is nice when a uke looks great too. And this lovely concert will draw stares, especially from the beautiful patterns in the solid back and sides - the ovangkol looks spectacular. Red padauk binding appears around the top and down the bound rosewood fingerboard, which looks nice - as does the ovangkol soundhole rosette - which contrasts nicely with the tightly grained spurce top.
The uke has Aquila strings, which emphasise the brightness that the spruce delivers, while the the KA-ASOV-C has a high gloss finish which also gives the sound some zing, as well as making the wood look particularly pretty. There are Grover, gold open machine heads, which are good quality. They have slightly larger buttons that some grover models which actually make tuning even easier. Finally, there is an ovangkol cap on the headstock, which also features an interesting vine motif in mother of pearl and abalone.
The Kala KA-ASOV-C delivers all solid tonewoods at a very competitive price, given the level of finish it also features. An all round, very impressive uke.
