Groove Tubes 12AX7r Pre Amp Tube
The GT 12AX7R preamp tube represents the sound of an older-style Russian type, with strong tone that's a little edgy. Slightly brighter with lower gain and quicker compression than GT 12AX7, the GT 12AX7R is great for most Fenders.

Groove Tubes ECC83 Pre Amp Tube

Groove Tubes GT-ECC83-S - Classic Euro type with medium to high gain and a linear frequency response. Very clear even tone with good bass character. This is the standard tube that was used in Marshall amplifiers and Vox amplifiers. For those that change first stage gain preamp tubes to change the taste and character of their amps (remember, this can be done in less than a minute without tools, adjustments, or a "tech"). This is one tube that should be in your basic toolbox. The basic tube sets generally are the 12AX7C, ECC83, and 7025 to cover a wide range of styles and tastes for most amplifiers

Groove Tubes 12AT7 Pre Amp Tube
This tube is used widely in most of the US-made amps and, in particular, the Fender amps. Fender amps with reverb use two 12AT7s - one for the reverb drive stage, and one used as a phase inverter to drive the push/pull output stage.

The 12AT7s make-up is very similar to the 12AX7 and can be substituted for a 12AX7 in a pinch, although it won't sound very good. Some players do prefer to use the 12AT7 in the driver stage in a Marshall for a cleaner, brighter tone. (The driver or phase inverter is the 12AX7 located nearest the power tubes.)

Groove Tubes 5AR4 Rectifier Valve

The most common rectifier used in higher powered amps which use a rectifier such as Fender 40 watt amps and Vox AC-30 amps.

Common to higher powered tube amps, like the later Fender Super Reverb amps and the Vox AC30 (or Matchless copies). It is the higher powered tube type rectifier in our marketplace. May be used to replace a 5U4 or 5Y3 and will give a faster more dynamic tonal result

Groove Tubes EL34 Matched Pair

This tube is based upon a tube which is considered something of an icon to EL34 users in both the audio world and guitar amp world. There were a number of variants of the original tube and GT chose the classic XF2 dual getter version to reproduce. The original was a classic and this tube is on it`s way to developing it`s own great track record just as the GT-6L6GE, E34LS, and KT88SV proprietary tubes. This tube is now available in matched quads and duets.

Groove Tubes EL84 Matched Quartet

New European version with even more response, higher power and warmer tone.

Most common low power pentone, popularized in early Vox AC30 amps. Rediscovered by Matchless amps and now currently used by nearly every tube amp company. Quick, soft overdrive distortion, great for recording but usually too low volume for live gigs.

Groove Tubes 6L6 Matched Pair

A faithful reproduction of the original General Electric "clear top" tube made on the original GE machines and with many original materials.

GT reissue which have a majority of USA components made on the original General Electric machines, the original tools, dies, materials and processing formulas as acquired from the liquidation for the last American tube factory in Owensboro Kentucky. Stunning clarity, and tone that is reminiscent of Carl Perkins through Jimi Hendrix... both of which mostly recorded through Fender amps in a period when they only use this tube. The most expensive (because of the the high US content)

Groove Tubes 6L6 Matched Quartet

Russian made, same as the 5881 you are using now, but when these are matched in our system they are improved. These are a very sturdy and reliable tube.

Perhaps the most reliable of the currently made types, with slightly less power and a more aggressive edge when pushed into distortion.

These are the tubes that are used by Fender in amps that use 6L6 tubes and are amps that DO NOT come from their custom shop. These are used in the Hot Rod series, Blues DeVille series, Pro Tube series, BF reissue series.
