Made in China, to bring the Hofner Violin Beatle Bass to you at an affordable price, but with Hofner quality and the design features of the German made model but with a contemporary slant. With a short scale, original Höfner 'Staple-Top' pick-ups, internal sustain block to reduce the Violin Bass sensitivity to feedback and provide deep resonating bass tone, and Hofner control panel, the Contemporary Series Violin Bass has the original's vibe.

The sounds of the Line 6 Variax Bass 700 have a presence, substance, and depth that makes them usable, viable bass sounds. They have reality. They don't seem at all processed or artificial. For instance, the Line 6 Variax Bass 700 models several single-pickup basses that have limited tonal range, but since the blend control on the Line 6 Variax Bass 700 has nothing to blend, it functions instead to move the pickup position. It's the original's sound but the Variax Bass can do more with it.

In 1956, Walter Hofner created an amplified semi-acoustic bass which would revolutionize rock music. Not only because Macca played a Hofner bass, but because a Hofner bass's warm, woody, double-bass-like amplified tone is unique, with a playing ease that no other bass can match.

Though this is a right handed version, the Hofner 500/1 Vintage '62 is based on Paul McCartney's 1962 Violin Bass, and replicates details of the original including the "strip" machine heads, the slot-head screws on the hardware, and the 2-piece neck. These are authentic touches that connect this instrument to an earlier time. In the Vintage '62 Hofner has created a replica of Paul's bass historically accurate enough to satisfy even the most demanding Beatles fan.
